Bottling Operations Manager

Key Details:

  • Lead the day-to-day bottling activities at a unique wine producer in Sonoma County
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Planning, Warehouse, and Production
  • Participate in hiring and training a stellar production team to support company growth

Location: Sonoma County (onsite position)
Compensation: $105-120K base salary + bonus + benefits

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Production, the Bottling Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day bottling activities. The Bottling Operations Manager will ensure that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.  You will coordinate with Maintenance, Planning, Warehouse operations, and work in tandem with Winemaking who oversees Lab and Cellar at the site.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated, such as: cases per day/minute/employee, overall production capacities, etc.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.  
  • Ensure work environments are adequate and safe.  Conducts team meetings, including monthly safety topics and other applicable training.
  • Oversee Production, ensuring they are reaching goals set by company leadership.
  • Monitor and evaluate operating costs to achieve financial objectives.
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to teams; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
  • Work with Production, Operations, Warehouse, and Business Development departments to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
  • Work cooperatively with other managers to identify winery-wide issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor performance of direct reports through formal and informal feedback; regularly communicates with staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results. 
  • Recommend and implement ongoing processes incorporating state-of-the-art technology and best practices while enhancing the Company’s position in the industry.
  • Support compliance and regulatory paperwork and inspections by outside agencies.
  • Partner with Maintenance to manage maintenance and coordination of preventative maintenance activities.
  • Manage consumable purchases for bottling operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience leading a production facility.
  • Proven experience in bottling operations management in the food and beverage or manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of the wine industry and winemaking styles is beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
