Director of Retail Sales

Position Overview
The Director of Retails Sales will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy to expand and scale the retail business. This role involves partnering with executive leadership to craft a long-term sales plan to drive growth across natural, grocery, and mass channels, particularly in the better-for-you category. The Director will create joint business plans, establish pricing strategies, support expansion efforts, and recommend adjustments to enhance overall portfolio profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive leadership to design and implement short- and long-term sales strategies for national and regional retail accounts.
  • Set annual sales targets for growing existing business and acquiring new customers.
  • Generate leads, cultivate new customer relationships, and close deals to drive revenue growth.
  • Use industry and product expertise to craft customer-centric solutions and guide joint business planning.
  • Create account-specific sales strategies, including volume forecasting, profitability analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Develop pricing strategies that balance revenue goals with costs, margins, and competitive dynamics.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt sales plans based on portfolio performance, market trends, and competitor insights.
  • Strengthen key customer relationships through personalized service and customized solutions.
  • Manage distributor and broker partnerships, from selection and onboarding to performance oversight.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
  • Support innovation and expansion initiatives, including product development and commercialization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in national account management in the food or beverage industry, preferably within the better-for-you segment and a mid-sized company with national reach.
  • Demonstrated success in increasing sales and profit margins.
  • Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance).
  • Team-oriented with humility and a drive for collective success.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • High integrity, dependable, results-driven, and works with urgency to achieve goals.
