Title: Chief People Officer
Location: Greater Sacramento area
Reports to: CEO

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform a gap analysis on the business and develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with the Company’s business strategy.
  • Partner with the CEO to design a compensation strategy (e.g., setting cash compensation bands)
  • Support the Company’s current and future business needs through a talent management strategy that facilitates the attraction, recruitment, development, engagement, motivation and retention of talent. Strong focus on philanthropy within the local community.
  • Support the team through expansion via a more structured approach to career development within the business. 
  • Administer the performance evaluation process in alignment with the Company’s strategic goals and Culture. Work with Company management to ensure the effective and equitable application of employee evaluations and performance improvement plans.
  • Integrate an employee engagement approach into the HR strategy, including an internal communications plan.
  • Leverage HR and business best practices. Consult with outside legal counsel in matters of employment practices and corporate policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. (e.g., OSHA, EEO, FMLA, CFRA, Workers’ Compensation, ERISA, FLSA, Wage & Hour)
  • Responsible for all employee related compliance for both Federal and State regulations.
  • Annual review and update of company handbook and job descriptions.
  • May assist in the processing of executive payroll and other payroll support functions.
  • Various projects and tasks relating to Human Resources

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within the human resources field.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or Finance with an emphasis in Human Resources; Master of Science in Human Resources preferred.
  • Familiarity with California labor law
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; Excellent business acumen.
  • Ability to partner effectively with peers and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company within an environment of rapid growth and change. 
  • Broad knowledge of employment, compensation, benefits, organizational planning and development, employee relations, and training & development.
  • Ability to lead by example with staff, as well as to coach, motivate, develop, reward and discipline employees.
  • Active involvement in professional human resource organizations (SHRM or similar organization).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
