  • $135-145K base salary + bonus + benefits. Onsite role in the Central Valley

This is a core commercial role responsible for daily market engagement, pricing execution, supply alignment, and overall financial performance of the category. This Commodity Merchandiser manages customer relationships, structures contracts that reflect supply realities, enhances margins, and serves as a go to resource on market trends and competitive dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee merchandising activities with full accountability for revenue, margin, and category performance.
  • Build and adjust pricing positions that reflect market conditions and protect profitability.
  • Track market movements and supply trends to identify trading opportunities and inform real time decisions.
  • Manage contract flow from negotiation through delivery ensuring commitments are met and margins maintained.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and operations to match sell programs with production forecasts and inventory levels.
  • Monitor inventory positions, guide replenishment, and ensure product availability aligns with demand.
  • Develop strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to increase volume or expand business.
  • Pursue new customers and trading partners to broaden market reach.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and ensure accurate and timely execution of all agreements.
  • Gather, interpret, and communicate market intelligence to support strategic planning.
  • Analyze profitability at the product, customer, or lane level and implement actions to improve results.
  • Work cross functionally with logistics, QA, finance, operations, and leadership to ensure seamless execution.
  • Travel to customers, suppliers, and industry events as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in commodity merchandising, trading, or ingredient sales, ideally within food, beverage, or agriculture.
  • Understanding of commodity market behavior and risk drivers.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory exposure and navigate supply constraints.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building capabilities.
  • Entrepreneurial operator comfortable making fast decisions in a changing market.
  • Willingness to travel.
