We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Quality to lead and evolve the quality function for a fast-growing, family-owned food manufacturer. With established operations in oils and a growing presence in grains and early nutrition, the company is in a pivotal growth phase and investing in the future of its quality systems, people, and programs.
This is an opportunity for a dynamic leader to shape the quality organization, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and develop a long-term roadmap that ensures excellence from manufacturing to customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development and execution of the company’s quality program across all manufacturing sites
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across both mature and developing quality systems
- Partner closely with food safety, sourcing, and operations teams to ensure alignment and compliance with regulatory and customer standards
- Oversee and develop an existing team. Hire, train, and mentor a team as the business continues to grow.
- Help define and codify a professional, customer-facing early nutrition quality program
- Assess current quality systems and deliver a gap analysis and multi-year strategic plan aligned with company growth goals
- Support new product launches, including upcoming retail initiatives
- Collaborate with potential future R&D and NPD resource planning
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and support sustainability and innovation initiatives
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading quality teams in food manufacturing, with exposure to both mature and early-stage systems
- Background in early nutrition, retail food production, or related sectors strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of SPF audits, supplier approvals, and regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of HACCP, PCQI, and SQF programs (certification not required but helpful)
- Experience leading and mentoring large, diverse teams, from quality managers to lab personnel
- Strong project management skills; PMP certification a plus
- Ability to travel regularly between headquarters and manufacturing facilities
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a passion for building culture and developing people
