The Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving commercial performance across the category. This position oversees sales execution, pricing direction, customer strategy, and overall profitability. The role requires someone who can manage complex customer relationships, negotiate effectively, collaborate across departments, and respond quickly to changing market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day sales activity and take full accountability for category revenue and margin results.
- Design pricing approaches that balance competitiveness with strong financial returns.
- Stay closely aligned with market trends and adjust pricing or sales tactics as conditions shift.
- Manage the full customer contract lifecycle ensuring commitments are met and profitability targets are achieved.
- Work with operations and supply chain teams to align sales commitments with production forecasts and available inventory.
- Maintain appropriate inventory positions and help guide production planning based on customer demand.
- Strengthen and expand customer relationships through consistent communication and value driven engagement.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the customer base.
- Lead commercial negotiations and ensure accurate execution of all contractual details.
- Interpret market data and competitive intelligence to support strategic decision making.
- Review profitability at the product or customer level and drive actions that enhance margin performance.
- Coordinate with logistics, QA, finance, operations, and leadership to ensure smooth execution across the business.
- Travel to customer sites, supplier meetings, and industry functions as necessary.
Requirements
- Background in sales or category management, ideally within food, beverage, agriculture, or related industry.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in pricing, forecasting, and commercial decision making.
- Proven ability to manage inventory and understand implications on supply planning and financial results.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust with customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent hands on experience.
- Self starter mentality with comfort operating in fast paced, evolving environments.
- Ability to travel and work across time zones when required.
